September 2022 Update
Due to the passing of one of Match Point’s beloved co-founders, Wyatt Harper III, we are unable to host our afterschool program this fall
However, we will still support the growth of tennis, specifically disadvantaged youth in Dickson, TN, and Wimberley, TX. Please contact DicksonTennisAssociation@gmail.com for more information on scholarships and tennis instruction opportunities.
We remain excited to work with our community to empower and build character in youth through tennis in a safe and positive environment.
2021 Match Point Tennis Program Recap
Tennis and kids were a hit at last year’s Match Point Tennis Program.
More than than 60 young local athletes ranging in age from 7-17 from Dickson and surrounding areas participated. Community tennis players, former college players, and current high school players all served as instructors.
Each week in September the players learned the fundamentals of tennis including serving, return of serve, volleying, net play and other tennis skills and etiquette through fun and creative games and competition.
The program’s goal is to introduce kids to the game of tennis so they can benefit from the physical, mental, and character building aspects of the game.
Local businesses including Tennsco, The Dickson Housing Authority, House Blend, Dickson Athletic Club, RadioShack, and Dickson Parks and Recreation sponsored the afterschool program held at the Lester Speyer Community Recreational Complex tennis courts.
Thanks to generous donations of our supporters, all Match Point players received a trophy and t-shirt on the last day of the program.
The Match Point Tennis program provides safe environments for supervised tennis instruction from coaches and mentors in Tennessee and Texas. Over 1,000 kids have participated since we began in 2007
